What’s new in the Workshop!
Every blade is hollow ground on our new double wheel grinder. This a custom made machine which gives a smooth and precise grind every time. Here I’m grinding a new cleaver made from a John Deere commercial lawn mower blade. After grinding it’s passed on to Correa Art Works where they will design the art work for the etching that will go on the blade.
Soaking a handle in walnut oil
Every wood handle is soaked in a mason jar filled with walnut oil. The oil gives the handle a luxurious finish and smooth feel. After the soaking process each handle is buffed and polished.
I am always trying to find materials that I can repurpose. This blade is made from Hard Core steel plate from a Freud Diablo saw blade. It’s lightweight, durable and holds a great edge.
